September 27, 2013 - PITTSFIELD – The 35th Annual Bees Prendergast Memorial Greylock Golf Tournament was held September 9th, 2013 at the Country Club of Pittsfield, 639 South Street. Berkshire Family and Individual Resources (BFAIR) was the beneficiary of the event and raised close to $25,000 for their programs.

Greylock Federal Credit Union Board member and golf tournament chairman Sheila LaBarbera said, “During the 35 years since the inception of this charitable tournament, Greylock has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for area non-profit agencies. We are thrilled to be able to continue this tradition, thanks to the support of our generous community.”

The tournament attracts 128 golfers who contribute to the financial success of the tournament by purchasing raffle tickets for prizes that are donated by more than 82 local merchants. Other funds are raised through the sale of sponsorships at Gold, Silver and Bronze levels as well as green, tee, and cart signs.

BFAIR’s Executive Director Rich Weisenflue said, “We are honored to be the beneficiary of this tournament for the second consecutive year and I appreciate the efforts of Greylock; David Bond, BFAIR Tournament Chair and Board member; as well as the golfers and countless agency volunteers. The money raised over a two-year period through sponsorships, contributions and raffle tickets provides an additional source of critically needed funding for our programs and services.”
The annual Greylock golf tournament is named in honor of Robert W. ‘Bees’ Prendergast, Greylock’s former board member of 27 years who passed away in 1997. According to Greylock President Marilyn Sperling, “Bees was tremendously active on Greylock’s board and as a volunteer in the community. He would be pleased to know the tournament raised money in his name to assist BFAIR.”
