December 9th, 2013 – Pittsfield – Greylock Federal Credit Union has announced it will be collecting hats, scarves and mittens for children in cooperation with the Berkshire County Action Council (BCAC). Those wishing to participate are asked to bring new, warm winter hats, scarves and mittens to any of Greylock’s branches during business hours now through Tuesday, December 31st.

Greylock President Marilyn L. Sperling said, “At this time of the year with the temperatures getting colder, Greylock is happy we can help children in need to stay warm. By partnering with BCAC, and counting on the generosity of our members, we can give the gift of warmth this holiday season.”

Deborah Leonczyk, BCAC Executive Director said, “We want to thank Greylock for stepping up to help BCAC. By reaching out to its members on behalf of our annual ‘ELF Holiday Warm Clothing Program,’ Greylock is helping us reach our goal of ensuring that no local, low-income families in need are overlooked.”

The hats, scarves and mittens Greylock collects at their branches will complement BCAC’s efforts to collect warm clothing for the children of low-income families in Central Berkshire County. The “ELF Holiday Warm Clothing Program” has been in operation for 33 years. The warm clothing that is collected will be distributed to 610 deserving children who registered for the “Giving Tree” at the Berkshire Mall.
