December 6th, 2013 – Pittsfield – Greylock Federal Credit Union and the Berkshire Museum will be presenting a free showing of the animated movie “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” at 11am on Sunday, December 15th at the Berkshire Museum, 39 South Street in Pittsfield.

The event, with the Rudolph-based theme of “Keep Your Nose in a Book – Be Well REaD!” is open to the public. It is in conjunction with Pittsfield Promise, a citywide coalition in partnership with Berkshire United Way, whose mission is to increase reading proficiency to at least 90% by 2020 for Pittsfield 3rd graders. Free “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” books will be given to attending children while supplies last.

John Bissell, Greylock Executive Vice President, and Pittsfield Promise chair said, “Our goal is for every child in Pittsfield to have the cognitive and emotional skill set to succeed in school and in life. The love of reading is fundamental to achieving that goal. A fun, holiday-themed event that ties reading with a beloved character like Rudolph is an ideal way for us to get kids excited about reading.”

Craig Langlois, Berkshire Museum’s Education and Public Program Manager, said, “We are thankful for Greylock’s support of the Rudolph event and look forward to a great turnout. This is a perfect way for kids to have fun, get into reading, and see the Museum as a focal point of learning and discovery.”

Those who attend the film screening are encouraged to visit the Museum after the film. Museum admission includes the Festival of Trees and is $13 for adults, $6 for children, and free for children aged 3 and under and Museum members. Sunday hours are noon to 5 p.m.
