Greylock Federal Credit Union is offering a robust slate of free workshops in May to help the community better understand credit, budgeting, and ways to prevent becoming the victim of a financial fraud or scam.
"Habilidad Crediticia: Construya un Historial de Cr dito Estable" will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 4 at the Community Empowerment Center (CEC), located at 75 Kellogg St. in Pittsfield. Taught in Spanish, this class covers the importance of credit.
At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, "Basic Budgeting," presented via Zoom, will help attendees set up a spending and saving plan, identify challenges, and create short and long-term financial goals and steps to achieve them.
"Frauds & Scams" will be offered in person on three different dates beginning with 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at Becket Town Hall, 557 Main St. in Becket. The class will be offered at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 at the Guthrie Center, 2 Van Deusenville Road in Great Barrington, and 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 at Washington Town Hall, 8 Summit Hill Road in Washington. These workshops will host a discussion and include specific examples of frauds and scams, along with helpful tips to protect yourself and your finances online.
