Enable a digital bodyguard for your online accounts.
Multifactor authentication (MFA) is an added layer of security that effectively prevents hackers from hijacking your info even if they steal your password. Passwords can be guessed or stolen, especially when they are short, common or reused, like birthdays and pet names.
When you enable MFA, you must verify your identity multiple ways to gain access to an account. For example, after entering a username and password, you might be asked to provide:
- fingerprint
- code sent to your phone
- predetermined pin
- click of a verification link in an email
- an interaction with a notification in another app
Likely you’re using these already as they are often required. MFAs can increase the security of an account by 99 percent!
As a reminder, make passwords long, complex, and unique, and store them with a password manager. Then enable MFA whenever possible to place a digital bodyguard in front of your online information – it’s a healthy cybersecurity habit well worth the extra effort!
