Your actions are your greatest defense against cybercriminals. Follow these digital habits to stay safe online.
Greylock Federal Credit Union takes your online safety seriously. During October’s “Cybersecurity Awareness Month,” a global initiative by National Cybersecurity Alliance, we’re highlighting the smartest, most efficient ways to stay safe while scrolling.
Remember, small actions – Stop. Look. Think – can make a BIG impact. Here are four actions you can take right now to protect you, your money, and your identity.
The 4 Core
- Fortify your accounts with strong, complex passwords and a password manager
- Enable a digital bodyguard with multifactor authentication
- Avoid threats by updating all software
- Recognize and report scams
Work with Greylock to Fight Fraud
The 4 Core are excellent compliments to the ways that Greylock is committed to cybersecurity and preventing fraud. Our digital banking platform keeps your accounts safe with encrypted information and required multifactor authentication. Our newly expanded eDocuments allow you to go paper-free, limiting the risk of stolen mail and dumpster diving. Plus our debit cards offer fraud alerts, which help you keep tabs on suspicious activity.
“In addition to the 4 Core actions, my best advice is to ignore unknown numbers,” said Fraud and Loss Prevention Officer Mystie Ford. “Delete texts from people you don’t know. Don’t answer the call. And if you’re concerned, call us or whichever business is being impersonated. Remember there is never a reason to give out your online banking credentials, and we’ll never ask for them. We will also never ask you to click on a link. Frauds and scams are notorious for causing false urgency – if you’re being told to act now, be suspicious. Take a moment to stop and think about it.”
Mystie is just one of Greylock’s impressive team of skilled experts working 24/7/365 to prevent, monitor, and tackle scams. Small actions can make a BIG impact. Together we will secure your data, protect your money, and empower our credit union.
