Tax season is upon us and Greylock Federal Credit Union has a variety of resources to help you through it, including two community partners offering assistance: Berkshire Community Action Council (BCAC) and Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity.
Free Tax Preparation Assistance
The BCAC Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free federal and state tax return preparation for individuals living or working in Massachusetts with a gross income of $69,000 or less. Priority is given to seniors, people with disabilities, and limited English-speaking/reading community members.
"We have been partners with Berkshire Community Action Council (BCAC) to offer Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for a number of years," said Cindy Shogry-Raimer, Greylock Vice President, Director of Community Development. "They offer free in-person appointments for tax prep services here at Greylock's Kellogg Street branch location, their main office at 14 Maplewood Ave Pittsfield and at the BCAC office in North Adams."

Habitat for Humanity also offers the VITA program which provides free tax preparation services to households earning $69,000 or less, as well as individuals with disabilities, older adults, and limited English-language speakers.
